Key Responsibilities

Auryn Aero is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and a strong background in open-source autopilot software. This role involves developing, testing, and integrating embedded software for our state-of-the-art UAV systems. A startup mindset, a love for research, and a keen attitude for customer success and entrepreneurship are strong pluses.

  • Develop and Maintain Software: Design and implement embedded software for UAV systems using Python, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink, ensuring robust and efficient code.
  • Integrate Open-Source Autopilot Software: Customize and optimize open-source autopilot platforms like ArduPilot and PX4 to meet specific project requirements.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with hardware engineers, system architects, and other software developers to integrate software components seamlessly into UAV systems.
  • Conduct Testing and Debugging: Perform rigorous testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to identify and resolve software issues, ensuring high reliability and performance.
  • Participate in Design Reviews: Contribute to system architecture design, participate in peer reviews, and provide feedback to improve software quality and functionality.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Create detailed technical documentation and ensure software development processes comply with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in embedded software development with strong proficiency in Python, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Autopilot Software Knowledge: In-depth understanding and practical experience with open-source autopilot software (e.g., ArduPilot, PX4), including customization and optimization.
  • Real-Time Systems: Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and hardware-software integration.
  • UAV and Aerospace Industry: Familiarity with UAV systems, aerospace industry standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Communication and Documentation: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create clear technical documentation.
